Have a question about who we are ?

Graduated from Nishtar Medical College Pakistan in 2000, one of the most prestigious medical schools in Pakistan.  After graduation, I worked in various fields of medicine, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Nephrology and Ob/Gyn.  During this time, I also sat for the United States Medical Licensure Exams, specifically, Step 1 and Step 2 CK.

In 2008, I sat for Step 2 CS and Step 3 USMLE.  While preparing for these exams, I participated in an externship (volunteer clinical work) for almost 5 months, in a substance abuse program in Washington DC.  This program was affiliated with the local VA Medical Center.  I then completed an approximate 10-month externship in an adult inpatient psychiatric unit in Zucker Hillside Hospital, which is part of Long Island Jewish Hospital New York.

In 2011, I was accepted into the psychiatry residency program at Harlem Hospital Center, which was affiliated with Columbia University, New York.  During my residency training, I was selected to participate in a performance improvement project with a multi-disciplinary team, to reduce violence within the inpatient psychiatric unit.  This initiative resulted in a significant decrease in violence, well below the corporate average for NYC Health Hospitals.  We earned a 2nd place award in a national poster presentation conference.

I was also chosen as lead resident, and achieved recognition as “Resident of the Month” for 3 out of the 5 months in the inpatient clinical rotation during my 2nd year of residency training.  I was selected to supervise Columbia University medical students during their clinical psychiatric rotations throughout the course of their residency training program.  I lead an organized teaching and training sessions for junior psychiatry residents, medical and physician assistant (PA) students, during psychiatry rotations.  I completed my residency training in June of 2015.
